There's something about
inaugurating a new prize that brings out the best in people. This
year's "Sharpshooter" award, for longest hole-out, created a stampede
for the silverware - how often do you see 3 aces in a tournament?
But there was a holy three-in-one, the first an audacious roller from
newcomer Raphael which leapt up to the pin on "Cutie", the second
a measured roll-curve drive on "The Horned Man" by Rich, and the third
a scything downhill attack on "Greville's Gully" which brought some
joy to a washed-out final GBH 10. Step forward Jester, The Original
Sharpshooter.
We saw intriguing new pairings in the top three seeds, with The Young
Brothers teaming up for the first time as Tir-Na-Nog, Sammy and Si
as the seriously long-arm Amiss, and authentic 60s doo-wop soul brothers
The Deltones blazing through Lambing Pen Fields like quiffs on heat.
